The Varsity Boys soccer team traveled last night for a cat fight with the Wildcats of Three Rivers. The boys came out focused and disciplined as they controlled the game through possession and quality passing from the opening whistle. Kendall Nieuwenhuis starting the scoring with a decisive finish from a perfectly served ball Josh Hammond at 27:39 in the first half. Kendall then assisted Shewit Gebreselassie for the second goal of the game. Shewit then assisted Matt TerAvest who joined the goal scoring frenzy at 13:48 in the first half. Shewit added another to roll the tally to 4-0 at the end of the first half. The scoring slowed in the second but Bryce Pierce added a brilliant goal from a Thomas Loftus assist. The match finished with Allegan netting 5 goals before surrendering a late goal to Three Rivers to finish the result at 5-1. Midfield dominance was executed through Kaleb Smith and Thomas Loftus, Shewit Gebreslassie continues his exceptional play and lead the charge in the attacking third of the field while Miller Johnson, Rudy Mendoza, Mitchell (last name) and Zach TerAvest partnered with goalie Zach Salter to hold Three Rivers to a single goal.
