Tigers News · Track & Field D-2 State Finals: Lake, Passorelli, Sturman set PR’s at finals

Today in Zeeland was the MHSAA Division II State Track & Field Finals:

BOYS: Jack Sturman narrowly missed the finals, finishing 9th in the 110m High Hurdles, running a PR (personal record) time of 15.35.  Nate Passorelli also ran a personal best time of 9:48.43 and finished in 24th place in the 3200m run.

GIRLS: Peyton Lake had an outstanding day of competition to round out her season, finishing with two lifetime best performances. In the 100m hurdles she placed 18th overall with a time of 16.65.  In the 300m hurdles she had an incredible 1 second PR, running a 49.02, which placed her 16th overall…7 places better than her seeded position.

Girls Junior Varsity Tennis, Girls Varsity Tennis · Girls Tennis: Tigers finish 5th at D-3 State Finals


Girls Tennis finished 5th at the MHSAA Division III State Finals with 14 points this weekend in Kalamazoo. The Tigers got three points from (4 Singles) Julia Patmos, (1 Doubles) Mollie Babbitt & Adrian Rizqallah, (2 Doubles) Elizabeth Hill & Emma Philippus, and (3 Doubles) Nicole Galloway & Erin Milbocker which all reached the state semifinals. (1 Singles) Emma Ruga and (3 Singles) Aubrey DeBoer each earned a point with opening round wins on Friday.

MHSAA D-3 Girls Tennis Final Team Standings:

Girls Softball fell 11-0 at Lakewood today in the semifinals of the Lakewood District. Jordyn Maka had the Tigers lone hit.

Boys Junior Varsity Baseball, Boys Varsity Baseball · Baseball: Tigers fall 6-3 to T-K in Districts


Varsity Baseballs season came to end today with a 6-3 lost to Thornapple-Kellogg in the semifinals of the Lakewood District. The game was tied at three headed into the sixth inning. Hayden Kruithoff and Joe LaJoice each had multiple hits. Cameron Day, Lane Sousley and Tyler Corbett each drove in one run.

Girls Junior Varsity Tennis, Girls Varsity Tennis · Girls Tennis D-3 State Finals: Tigers advance four flights into semifinals

Girls Tennis advanced four flights into Saturdays MHSAA Division III State Semifinals after day one action in Kalamazoo today. Julia Patmos (4 Singles), Mollie Babbitt/Adrian Rizqallah (1 Doubles), Elizabeth Hill/Emma Philippus (2 Doubles) and Nicole Galloway/Erin Milbocker (3 Doubles) won quarterfinal matches today and will resume action at 9:00 am tomorrow with singles matches at Kalamazoo College and doubles at Western Michigan University.

Emma Ruga (1 Singles) and Aubrey DeBoer (3 Singles) each won opening round matches to earn the Tigers team points.

Girls Tennis Next Action: Saturday, June 3 – MHSAA D-3 State Finals @ Kalamazoo College and Western Michigan University – 9:00 am

Boys Varsity Golf · Boys Golf: MHSAA D-2 Regional at Yankee Spring Golf Course


Today the Boys Golf team finished 15th overall at the MHSAA Division II Regional at Yankee SpringGolf Course in Middleville. (Fr.) Remi Franklin led the Tigers shooting a 76 and just missing the cut for the state finals. (Sr.) Jaret Abraham was next with an 88.

The Athletic Department has released the tryout and practice schedule for the 2017 Fall Middle School Sports Season for 7th & 8th graders. (6th graders may participate in Cross Country). 

MIDDLE SCHOOL CROSS COUNTRY (Grades 6-8)
Starts Wednesday, Aug. 23
Practice will start at 7:00 pm in front of the High School starting 8/23

MIDDLE SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL (Grades 7 & 8)
Starts Wednesday, Aug. 23
Tryouts will be 8/23, 8/24 and 8/25 – High School Auxiliary Gym
8th Grade: 4:45 pm – 6:15 pm
7th Grade: 3:00 pm – 4:30 pm

MIDDLE SCHOOL FOOTBALL (Grades 7 & 8)
Starts Monday, Aug. 21

REMINDER:
All students must have a sports physical turned into the High School office before participating with a team. The physical must be completed after April 15, 2017 for the 17-18 school year.

Baseball wrapped up the regular season tonight with a 9-6 non-conference win in Lawton. Lane Sousley pitched five innings to get the win and also drove in two runs. Alex Babbitt earned the save.
